The Swedish platform and compliance company Blika has a new principal owner. The Dutch investment company Main Capital has acquired 60 percent of the business to expand Main’s portfolio of software services aimed at the headquarters of multinational companies. Blika will gain greater reach and growth opportunities in Europe with the acquisition.
– Main has a long competence and experience in acquiring and developing SaaS companies, and they have an extensive network in Europe, which will open many doors for Blika. They are a capital-strong principal owner that enables real growth with future acquisitions. We aim to increase sales tenfold within the next five years, says Peter Öhling Ekenstierna, CEO of Blika.
Blika has developed a platform that enables companies to keep track of complex legal entity structures and ensure proper governance and compliance. The platform helps companies comply with tax rules and legal rules, such as DAC6 and Country-by-Country reporting.
For Dutch Main Capital, the acquisition, made through the Main Foundation I Fund, is the first Nordic platform investment focusing on innovative, fast-growing software companies. Main will support Blika to further strengthen its position in Europe through organic growth and a combination of partnerships, selective acquisition, and strategy building.
– New regulations such as Country-by-Country reporting and DAC6 have led to increased demand for management systems that centralize company data and help companies throughout the compliance process. It is a big game plan where Blika can lead the European market, says Wessel Ploegmakers, head of the Nordic operations at Main.
The software market for corporate management is predicted to grow by at least 17 percent per year by 2026.
– Now, Blika gets better resources to develop both business and products, which will benefit both existing and future customers. We get direct access to several complementary software services and the entire Main network in Europe. The next step is to look at acquisitions enabling Blika to establish a presence in more European countries, says Peter Öhling Ekenstierna, CEO of Blika.
